Pickled Red Onions

Quick Easy Pickled Red Onions

  1. First thought that comes to mind: Seems like picking is the new thing. You see it everywhere now a days, especially at my local farmers market.
  2. Great for: Salad, sandwich or taco topping
  3. Inspiration: Wanting to preserve the extra red onions I bought
  4. Tips & Tricks: Add a small piece of ginger into the container with the garlic and onions. The ginger will add a nice aromatic flavor and will help keep the onions crunchy
  5. Pairs well with: Pulled pork sandwich!



½ cup of apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 tablespoon of honey

1 ½ teaspoon of salt

½ cup of water

1 medium red onion

3 cloves of garlic



  1. Thinly slice red onions
  2. Whisk together the vinegar, sugar, honey, salt and water until everything is dissolved
  3. Add onions and garlic into the mixture and cover
  4. Let the onions marinate for 2 hours. The mixture can be stored for a week covered in the fridge
  5. Drain the onions when ready to serve
